Hi Donovan,
I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the last month of mentoring. As a homeschooler, it was really important for me to feel that support, it was literally as though you were holding my hand each week!
Also, because I am not Waldorf trained, your in-depth knowledge and wisdom was beyond helpful; from lesson planning, to understanding the child in the stage they’re at.
I think above all, the best thing was that so often I feel like I am either not doing enough or what I am doing is not good enough, and thanks to our chats I was okay to be kinder to myself about my expectations for me and the kids. You were able to give me an overview of lessons and theory, but also to answer very specific questions and share your own experience and ideas about how to deal with fractions for instance, or division, and then the early stages of reading and writing.
I’m looking forward to continuing after the holidays, so we can plan the year ahead and upcoming blocks.

Donovan was my mentor from the year 2015 to 2017 at Cardiff Steiner School. He knows a lot about Steiner Education and was able to explain it in a straight forward way, including difficult concepts like the three day rhythm and how to effectively plan your lessons. As a teacher he was always dedicated to his class and he expected the same of other teachers. I felt that having high standards helped to create a cohesive group of teachers that tried their best to give the pupils a good grounding of the topics in the main lessons. Donovan truly carries in his mentoring the ethos of Steiner Education.
